Effective Case Management Resources Page

The DOLETA-sponsored project, Supporting Integrated Intake and Effective Case Management in the Workforce System, is a technical assistance project designed to identify existing tools and resources about integrated intake processes and high quality case management, and to share those resources with a wide array of workforce system administrators and practitioners. Project deliverables and dissemination activities include a literature review and resource scan, two briefing papers, a variety of in-person conference presentations, and a series of webinars and peer-to-peer web-based learning opportunities. These activities are designed to assist workforce programs to increase their integration at the point of customer intake into the workforce system, and to improve their support for effective case management.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Eligible Training Provider Provisions: The First Year

This webinar is a live question-and-answer session on the Eligible Training Provider provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), as outlined in TEGL 41-14. This question-and-answer session focused on the first year of implementation of the eligibility provisions at WIOA Sec. 122. Participants in need of training services to enhance their job readiness or career pathway may access career training through a list of state-approved training providers. Participants can select from the list of eligible training provider (ETP) programs that meet their needs. WIOA builds upon and modifies the system in place under WIA. This question-and-answer session will clarify those changes to assist states and workforce development boards in adjusting their processes to comply with WIOA requirements.

This session asked participants to comment on and offer ideas regarding state requirements—and opportunities -- for evaluation and research under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), found primarily under Section 116 (e). Enough is Known for Action: Implementing Effective Work Experience Models for Youth

This session was the second of a three-part webinar series for the youth community, hosted by the Chicago and San Francisco Employment and Training (ETA) offices but open to all, to inspire strategic planning and action now in anticipation of the July 1, 2015 implementation date of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). As you prepare to deliver expanded services to youth under WIOA,your peers shared work experience models that are outcome-driven and evidence-based solutions for your possible replication. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act places a new priority on work-based learning by providing that at least 20 percent of local youth formula funds be used for work experiences such as: summer and year-round employment opportunities, pre-apprenticeship programs, on-the-job training, and internships and job shadowing. During this webinar, WIA formula funded youth programs, YouthBuild, Conservation Corps, Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship programs were highlighted for the innovative approaches they have taken to implementing work-based learning models into their programming.

WIOA Consultation -- National Identifier for the Workforce Investment System

Under WIOA, the Secretary of Labor will create a national identifier. A “national identifier” would be a logo or tagline or brand for one-stop centers and placed on information and outreach materials used to identify one-stop centers and the services within them as part of a national workforce investment system. In this session, we sought feedback on what the identifier will be, how it should be used, and how best to inform jobseekers and businesses of the workforce system services available to them.
